Carolyn Parker’s passion for roses grew along with her suburban Lafayette, California garden. More than 300 roses formed its structure and inspired careers in garden design, photography, and writing. She is the author of two books on roses: The Poetry of Roses (Abrams, 1995) and the just published R is for Rose: Reflections from a Passionate Rose Lover (Horticulture Books, 2005). Her favorite days are spent looking through the camera lens searching for the essence and heart of roses, often enveloped by their fragrance and breathtaking beauty.


Carolyn especially loves heritage roses and in her presentation she will focus on the allure of French roses. She will show how unique their many varied forms are, how they are perfect for modern day gardens, and how especially adaptable they are in flower arranging.
